Welcoming Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's pledge to carry forward the peace process, Pakistan's top leadership has underscored the importance of discussing the Kashmir issue.
At a briefing in Rawalpindi on Saturday President Musharraf and Prime Minister Jamali welcomed the statement by Dr Manmohan Singh that the Congress-led coalition would continue furthering the peace process with Pakistan.
"In this connection, they attached importance to the forthcoming commencement of a composite dialogue on all outstanding issues between the two countries, including Jammu and Kashmir," said an official announcement.
They reiterated that Pakistan would continue in its efforts for the promotion of peace and stability in the region, it added.
The participants of the meeting were briefed by Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar on the international and regional situation with particular focus on South Asia.
