'UN peacekeepers need more training'

United Nations peacekeepers need more training to do their jobs effectively in the face of growing challenges, Bangladesh's foreign minister told a conference on peacekeeping operations Sunday.
The conference in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, aimed at bolstering the ability of UN and regional groups to carry out peace support operations.
"The focus should be given on developing effective training opportunities for troops and civilians involved in peacekeeping" to meet growing challenges, Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Morshed Khan told the conference.
