PIA, Business Dynamics sign contract for conversion of plastic packaging into oxo-biodegradable
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) here on Monday signed a three year contract with Business Dynamics (PVT) Ltd exclusive distributors of d2w for Symphony Environmental Limited, for conversion of its normal plastic packaging into oxo- biodegradable plastics.
Director Procurement and Logistics Air Commodore Imran Akhtar Khan signed the contract on behalf of PIA whereas Managing Director Business Dynamics (Pvt) limited Amir Younus signed from Business Dynamics's side.
Oxo-biodegradable plastic is conventional polyolefin plastic to which small amounts of salts have been added.
Talking to media after the signing event Air Commodore Imran Akhtar said that PIA has taken lead by becoming a role model for other airlines by adopting green packaging in their products and "saying no to plastic pollution and yes to best solution for plastic pollution".
"This way PIA can achieve positive impacts and enhance their image not only nationally but internationally as well," he said.
He said that after being "Green Airline" will help in reduction of carbon footprints and will play a major role in protection of the environment and sustainability for better tomorrow. It will achieve its socio economic and environmental goal."
He said that this is the best way for the reduction of waste management, littering is one of the core area and plastic take decades to degrade by shifting to d2w packaging this plastic will degrade in its proposed time.
Amir Younus said that Business Dynamics (Pvt) Ltd will be supporting PIA in environment related seminars, walks, conference and social campaign regarding awareness of pollution among general public.
