ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) has set up 16 marble and granite projects across the country, while 29 more projects are in pipe line.
This was stated by Chief Executive Officer PASDEC,Ihsanullah Khan while briefing the Federal Minister for Production, Anwar Ali Cheema about the development projects of the company.
He informed that due to PASDEC efforts for sector development the marble and natural stone exports quantum has been boosting up to $ 76 million in this year while this figure was stand at $ 34 million in couple of years back.
PASDEC is endeavoring to achieve $ 500 million marble export target before 2020 and will flourish the industry as well as strengthen the national economy, he added.
He informed that PASDEC is offering skill development training to local work force for quarrying techniques and operating the machinery.
Besides this currently a three month Marble Mosaic training workshop for women is being conducted in collaboration with UNIDO to promote women empowerment culture through skill development program.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Production said that the government is committed to develop the Marble and Granite sector as dimensional stone industry of the country.
He lauded the initiatives of women marble mosaic training and technical training program for work force. He desired that the training sessions should be continued which help out in poverty alleviation, and skill development.
