imageKARACHI: Payment of salaries to Pakistan Steel Mills' employees will be done in time and outstanding dues to retired ones, assures Federal Secretary for Ministry of Industries and Production, Khizar Hayat Gondal.

The Federal Secretary who has also charge of the Chief Executive Officer of PSM, was addressing the PSM senior officers here at the Mills' Head Office, said a statement here on Monday.

He said two months salaries of the PSM employees would be paid within a week and extra efforts were being carrying out for the payment of remaining three months salaries (Feb, March and April, 2016). A comprehensive summary for releasing the salaries had already been sent to the Privatization Commission and Ministry of Finance for the approval.

Moreover, another summary has also been submitted for the retired employees dues for allocation of fund.

The Secretary said the employees of PSM were facing very difficulties because of non-payment of their salaries in time. The Ministry Industries and Production was well aware of problems of the employees.

He appreciated patience and tolerance of PSM employees.

He said that with responsibilities of Secretary MOIP, it was very challenging task to shoulder responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Steel. As PSM has been surrounded by problems since last 8 years which is a great challenge. He said every possible effort was being made for revival of the PSM and for its betterment.

He also visited production units of PSM plants and downstream industrial estate.
