SINGAPORE: Asia's gasoil crack for the benchmark 500ppm grade stayed above $10 a barrel on Friday, supported by demand.
Vietnam's Saigon Petro and Petrolimex were seeking a total of 95,000 tonnes of gasoil for April delivery.
But the validity of Saigon Petro's tender has been extended to March 14 from March 11. Results of Petrolimex's tender were not immediately known.
Sri Lanka's Ceypetco returned to the market with a purchase tender for 300,000 barrels of 0.05 percent gasoil for April 9-10 delivery.
It had recently issued a tender to buy 2.7 million barrels of the fuel for June 2016 to January 2017 delivery.
Its spot tender will close on March 16 while the term tender will expire on April 4.
India's Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) is looking to buy Euro 4 gasoil in a rare move as the refiner does not usually rely on imports to fill supply gaps.
Traders said regional demand had given the market the boost it needed.
Coupled with this, diesel being stored in vessels had discharged as supplies tightened on refinery shutdowns.
But traders held a pessimistic long-term view of the middle distillates market.
"The slower economic growth will crimp overall demand," one trader said.
OTHER TENDERS: Taiwan's CPC has bought 45,000 kilolitres of jet fuel for second-half April delivery to Taiwan at a premium of 80 cents a barrel on a cost-and-freight (C&F) basis, traders said.
This was higher than the premium of 50 cents it had paid recently for a similar amount to be delivered to Taiwan on March 20-31.
SINGAPORE CASH DEALS: Five deals.
Hin Leong bought two gasoil cargoes of 500ppm grade from BP at 150,000 barrels each, one of which was for March 31 to April 4 loading at a discount of 35 cents and the other for April 3-7 loading at a discount of 30 cents.
Hin Leong bought another 250,000 barrels of 500ppm gasoil from Total for March 26-30 loading at a discount of 20 cents a barrel.
PetroChina sold 100,000 barrels of jet fuel for April 1-5 loading at flat to Shell and another 100,000 barrels of the fuel for March 26-30 loading to Vitol, also at flat.
