Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active where four ships carrying containers and cement were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Sunday, September 18.
Meanwhile six more vessels carrying containers, furnace oil, diesel oil and chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy remained moderate on the Port at 51 percent on Sunday where a total of seven ships namely C.V Margrit Rickmers, Maersk Wisconsin, ACX Lily, M.V Mohammad Prince, Orient-III, Genius Star-X and Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel product and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 77,277 tonnes, comprising 58,866 tonnes imports and 18,411 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,182 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.
Four ships Maersk Wisconsin, Margrit Rickmers, Al Salam II and Mohammad Prince sailed out to sea on Monday morning While ACX Lily will have to sail later today.
Three ships MSC Natalia, MTM Gibraltar and Fair Spirit carrying containers, chemicals and furnace oil are expected to take berth at Container Terminal, Engro Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Monday, September 19.
