ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is not considering to lay off employees nor any funds have been allocated for golden handshake scheme in the airlines, Spokesman of PIA Danyal Gillani here on Saturday said.
Clarifying a news item published in a section of press regarding laying off of PIA employees through golden shake hand scheme, he said "No such proposal is under consideration, nor has money been allocated for the purpose.
It is regrettable that such kind of rumours are being spread to create unnecessary unrest among the staff of the national airline which is trying to recover from heavy losses."
Meanwhile, he said for the appointment of new Chief Operating Officer in PIA, a few candidates were shortlisted for this post on the basis of their professional qualification and experience. And the PIA management is still in the process of finalizing the selection of most appropriate candidate for the post.
He said "No decision has been taken as yet."
