imageKARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr.Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has said that a fully equipped and state of the art cyclotron unit would be operational in Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) within six months to provide modern treatment facilities to the cancer patients.

This, he said during his visit to various wards and emergency of JPMC on Wednesday.

Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Dahar, Commissioner Karachi Syed Asif Hyder Shah and Executive Director JPMC Prof. Anees Bhatti were also present.

Governor Sindh said that patients specially from poor and middle class, are visiting the government health facility and expecting better treatment there.

He said daily 5000 OPD is a proof of the trust of masses towards this health institution. He said that the health institution was not only providing services to the patients of the city but also the people from far flung areas.

He directed to increase the capacity of different wards for treating maximum patients.

Taking notice of overall situation of the hospital, he said that clean and neat environment should be esnured in wards.

Medicines, meals and diagnostic tests should be ensured in the hospitals to facilitate the patients.

He appreciated the contribution and performance of accident and emergency department of JPMC. The treatment and care provided by JPMC in any untoward incident is unparallel, adding that other health institutions should also follow the example, he said.

Dr. Ebad observed that Cyber Knife facility has been a tremendous revelation in medical sciences as it perform spotless surgeries. He said 10 such surgeries are being performed on daily basis at JPMC, which is commendable.

He stated that construction of 609 bedded new eight floor building, would provide better treatment facilitates to the patients.

The provision of free of cost scan facility to the patients, is also appreciable.

The Governor assured that government would provide all possible support and assistance to JPMC for further improving the services.

On the occasion, he was briefed about the under construction building.

He was informed that philanthropists and private sector were extending cooperation and providing facilities at JPMC.

JPMC Dr. Seemi Jamali, Joint Director JPMC, informed the Governor about the functioning of emergency and accident department.

She said that JPMC had always been in a state of preparedness for any emergency or eventuality.

Meanwhile, talking to media, Governor Sindh said that after devolution, the funds of the hospital have been doubled.

Replying to a question, he said that main objective of his visit to

parks, hospitals and other facilities was to improve the services. Due to continuing operation, the law and order situation was very conducive to carry out development projects, he stated.
