imageISLAMABAD: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Thursday said that government was committed to provide best health facilities to people and had launched various health schemes for the poor.

He was speaking as chief guest at seminar on cancer awareness organized by Shifa Hospital to mark the World Cancer Day.

Every year on 4th February, World Cancer Day is observed, highlighting the health risks associated with cancer and advocating effective policies to fight cancer.

This year's theme "We can. I can." highlights that how everyone, as collective or as individuals can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that early diagnosis and awareness was the most effective in treatment of fatal diseases like cancer, Hepatitis and heart diseases.

The minister said that despite limited resources, Prime Minister, Muhammed Nawaz Sharif had launched national health scheme.

Keeping in mind the difficulties faced especially by the poor and underprivileged, Prime Minister National Health Programme was launched, he added.

This programme is a first of its kind initiative that will benefit the families living below the poverty line.

After coming into power, the present government has made major strides toward the fulfillment of its promise of making Pakistan a welfare state.

The health program will fund all kinds of critical illnesses including cancer and heart diseases.

The government will provide expenses worth Rs. 300,000 that will cover hospital admission fees, diagnosis, treatment and medicine fees for the patients.

The minister appreciated efforts of Shifa Hospital for organizing such disease awareness seminars for the general public.
