NHA adhering to policy of transparency: Member Planning

Published Updated

imageISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) is adhering to the policy of transparency and there is no room for corrupt elements.

This was stated by Member Planning NHA Raja Nausherwan while speaking in a seminar on "Transparency in Public Sector: An Appraisal," organized by Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage here on Wednesday.

He said that NHA has an inspection wing to ensure transparency and evaluation reports of the projects costing over 50 million were sent to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The member NHA said that all relevant rules were being followed in procurement, tendering and bidding of its projects.

Raja Nausherwan said that the NHA projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), were spread over all the provinces and the whole country would benefit from the fruits of this gigantic structural development activity across the country.

He said that the government had made a plan to extend the country's road connectivity with the Central Asian States (CAS) in the first phase and subsequently to South Asia at a later stage. He said that completion of road projects in Balochistan under CPEC would be a game changer for the region.

He said that unprecedented infrastructure building activity was underway in the country and it would change the landscape of Pakistan from Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir to Karachi and Gwadar.

With this, an era of prosperity would be ushered in and real change in the lives of the people would take place.
