Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships C.V Nicoline MaersK, C.V Glory, C.V OOCL Kobe and M.T Grace carrying containers and palm oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday, August 25.
Meanwhile two more ships carrying containers and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 85% on Thursday where a total of eleven ships namely C.V Nicoline Maersk, C.V Glory, C.V OOCL Kobe, C.V CMA CGM Wagner, M.V Sapphire, M.V Tycoon, M.V Afamia, M.V Ioanthi, M.V Gera Simas. M.T Grace and M.T North Contender were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement urea, canola seeds, palm oil and phosphoric acid respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 79,301 tonnes, comprising 46,208 tonnes imports and 33,093 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,186 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Four ships C.V Nicoline Maersk, C.V OOCL Kobe, C.V CMA CGM Wagner and M.T North Contender sailed out to sea during last 24 hours while another ship C.V Glory is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
A total of four ships C.V MSC Venezuela, C.V Al-Mirqab, M.V long Champ and M.T Mykines carrying containers, LPG and palm oil are expected to take berths at QICT, EVTL and LCT respectively on Friday, August 26, while two more container ships C.V Libra Ipanaema and CV MSC Roberta are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, August 27.
