imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday directed provincial ministers, secretaries and administration to visit market and bazaars to ensure availability of quality food items at reasonable rates in open market and bazaars as well.

According to a handout, he said provincial administration, including ministers and authorities of concerned departments, should spare no efforts for providing relief to people and besides Ramazan bazaars, monitoring of quality and prices of edible items in markets and bazaars should also be ensured.

He said provision of relief to people was his mission and no one will be allowed to exploit people in the form of profiteering nor any hurdle will be tolerated in the provision of relief to the masses.

He said hoarders and profiteers would be sent to jail and the elements looting people through illegal profiteering deserve no leniency.

The chief minister directed that indiscriminate action should be continued against people preparing and selling harmful and substandard items and owners of factories producing substandard items should also be brought to justice.

He said due to effective steps of the Punjab government, quality food items were available to people at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars and a large number of people were visiting these bazaars and they were benefiting from the historic Ramazan package of billions of rupees.

Shahbaz Sharif said there was a need for continuous monitoring of Ramazan bazaars and there should be no complaint regarding non-availability of essential items in Ramazan bazaars and all necessary steps should be taken for ensuring abundant supply of daily use items in Ramazan bazaars.
