imageATHENS: Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou was a last-minute absentee as the Greece national squad left for Austria on Monday ahead of Sunday's crucial Euro 2016 Group F qualifer against Hungary.

Mitroglou picked up a thigh injury in Sunday's 3-0 league win over Kerkyra and his place in the party was taken by Panionios forward Apostolos Giannou.

Giannou joins three other new faces called up by coach Sergio Markarian, Giannina goalkeeper Markos Vellidis, Panathinaikos midfielder Tasos Lagos and Asteras Tripolis forward Giannis Gianniotas.

Also missing from the initial squad through injury were Al-Hilal striker Giorgos Samaras, Olympiakos defender Giannis Maniatis and AEK midfielder Petros Mantalos.

Greece are bottom of the group with just one point from four matches. Romania head the table with 10 points followed by Northern Ireland on nine, Hungary with seven, Finland on four and the Faroe Islands with three.
