LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench Tuesday stopped trial court from proceeding in Haq Nawaz murder case.
The court passed the orders while hearing a petition of Atta Muhammad, brother of deceased Haq Nawaz, seeking directives for formation of new joint investigation team (JIT). The court also sought reply from the Punjab government and Inspector General of Police Punjab.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the joint investigation team was not formed on merit for investigation of the Haq Nawaz murder case and pleaded the court to issue directives for formation of new JIT. He also pleaded the court to stop the trial court from further proceedings.
The court also sought reply from the respondents.
