ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for National Health Saira Afzal Tarar Thursday vowed to make the country polio and measles-free, saying that vaccination against the crippling and lethal diseases was being ensured in every nook and cranny of the country.
Talking to PTV, she said the government achieved access in all sensitive areas where vaccination drives could not be carried out due to law and order situation. There was just need of launching quality drives to defeat polio and measles, she added.
"Now, there is no excuse of law and order issue as we have achieved access in all areas. We just need to launch comprehensive and quality drive," she said.
Saira said the federal government was providing the vaccines to provinces on demand basis, adding that it was their responsibility to preserve the vaccines in required temperature.
She said the government was also focussing on improving healthcare of mother and child aimed at strengthening their immune system against diseases.
