Pakistani album ‘Indus Raag: Beyond Borders’ has failed to reach in nomination for the ‘Best World Music Album’ category to the Grammy Awards. The album ‘Indus Raag: Beyond Borders’ was recorded by Faisal Rafi of Silent Music Studios and mixed and mastered by Fuzön’s Emu, and veteran music producer Iqbal Asif of Emix Studios.
‘Indus Raag: Beyond Borders’ a 12-CD compilation of classical and folk, spread across 13 hours of back-to-back music was short listed for a nomination in the ‘Best World Music ‘ category earlier this year but unfortunately couldn’t make it to the final five, local media reported.
Among over 170 entries, seven are from India. Sitarist Anoushka Shankar album ‘Traces of You’ , Sérgio Mendes ‘Magic’, Wu Man, Luis Conte & Daniel Ho ‘Our world in song’, Angelique Kidjo ‘Eve’ and Toumani Diabate & Sidiki Diabate ‘Toumani & Sidiki’ has been nominated in the ‘Best World Music Album’ category.
Previously, First Pakistani musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was nominated for Grammy award twice in 1990 and 1997 for the ‘Best Traditional Folk Album’.
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards nomination list was dominated by British singer Sam Smith, R&B star Beyonce and Pharrell Williams. The gala ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 8 next year.
