SNGPL asks consumers to adopt safety measures

imageISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) on Friday urged the consumers to adopt safety measures while using gas appliances to avoid untoward incidents.

A senior official of SNGPL told APP that each year several gas related mishaps occurred in different areas, particularly during the winter season.

He asked its consumers to avoid excessive use of geysers and other gas appliances, adding that it is our responsibility to conserve natural gas.

"Cooking on high flame not only burns food but also wastes gas. Prepare food at low temperature and prevent wastage of gas," he added.

He urged the gas consumers to follow precautionary measures such as frequent checking of gas service lines and immediate repair in case of gas leakage.

He added that people should avoid using rubber pipes for gas appliances as standard gas equipment and pipes could curtail the ratio of critical incidents.

The gas appliances of good quality should be used and a trained plumber should be engaged to rectify gas leakage in houses, he said.

He said that gas heaters can put your life at risk. Don't use gas heaters, they cause shortage of oxygen which is life threatening and stay warm with warm clothes.

"The complaint cell will immediately respond to any complaint or information about gas leakage or theft in any area of the region," he added. He said the SNGPL officials would be available round the clock at telephone number 119.
