imageDUBAI: Australia were in deep trouble on 117-7 at lunch Sunday on the fifth and final day of the first Test as Pakistan eyed victory.

Steven Smith was unbeaten on 31 while Mitchell Johnson was seven not out.

Australia, chasing a daunting 438-run victory target, resumed on 59-4 but lost Chris Rogers (43), Mitchell Marsh (three) and Brad Haddin (nought).

Two of the wickets fell to left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar, who has figures of 4-38.

Pakistan made 454 and 286-2 declared while Australia scored 303 in their first innings.

The second and final Test starts in Abu Dhabi on October 30.
