‘Maroon 5’ latest video ‘Animal’ has been condemned by sexual assault group for highlighting serious crimes against women.
In a recently released video, lead singer of ‘Maroon 5’ Adam Levine portrays a bespectacled butcher who, when he's not groping bloody animal carcasses in meat lockers, is stalking a woman (played by his real-life wife Behati Prinsloo). He follows her in the streets, breaks into her home and crawls into bed with her while she sleeps, unaware that he is next to her. Then his fantasy turns into a sexual blood bath, media reported.
According to foreign media reports, The Rape Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), a U.S. anti-sexual violence organization, slammed the video, calling it ‘a dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy’. “No one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance, The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry,” said Katherine Hull Fliflet, RAINN’s vice-president of communication.
The offended video created an outraged on social media by ‘Maroon 5’ fans, they expressed their concerns and disappointment with the band’s latest move.
