imageEvergreen singer Asha Bhosle, who turned 81, has thanked her fans for supporting her in her journey, in which she successfully established herself as one of the most versatile music artists. She is best known as a playback singer in Hindi cinema / Bollywood, although she has a wider repertoire and has sung in many languages.

Bhosle’s career started in 1943 and she has done playback singing for over a thousand Bollywood movies. In addition, she has recorded several private albums and participated in numerous solo concerts in India and abroad.

Bhosle’s work includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis.

In 2011 she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, media reported.

Asha Bhosle posted on Twitter she said, “Thank you for kind greetings. Without your support I wouldn't have achieved my goals”.

According to media reports, “Asha the younger sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, has sung for Bollywood actresses of Madhubala, Helen and Asha Parekh's time to giving playback for the new age heroines like Urmila Matondkar and Kareena Kapoor.

Asha Bhosle has sung number of hits songs like ‘Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko’, ‘O Sathi Chal’, ‘Lekar hum dewana dil’ , ‘Parde mein rehne do’ , ‘Yeh mera dil pyar ka diwana’ are some of her memorable songs. She performs live on stage till date and took to the stage at a packed show in Paris earlier this year media reported.
