imageISLAMABAD: Former chairman WAPDA Syed Raghib Abbas Shah felicitated government and people of Pakistan over inauguration of coal power plant at Sahiwal.

He said that it will be a major step towards expensive power supply to people on cheaper rates.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that people and officers should cooperate with government by paying their electricity bills well in time for smooth supply of power.

He added that major hurdles in the implementation of power related projects was the provision of funds and negligence of the implementing agencies, but Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ensured provision of funds and monitoring of the performance of implementing agencies for timely completion of the power generating projects.

He said that government had motivated people to pay power dues to control over mounting of circular departments.

Executive Director Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Dr Abid Qayyum Sulehri urged that government should start construction of work on hydle and coal related power projects simultaneously to get early generation of electricity.
