The buzz doing the rounds is that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Now The Times of India reveal the director has reportedly approached Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif to play respective roles of Mastani and Bajirao's wife Kashibai in the film.
"Apparently, Bhansali has had a word with both Deepika and Katrina. The girls have shown tremendous interest," a source revealed to The Times of India.
The ‘Ram-Leela’ director will start work on his dream project, which has been held up for 14 years, from mid 2014.
Bhansali earlier wanted to rope in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ couple Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the leads but after fallout between the two actors the project was put on hold for a long time.
"After his film Ram-Leela released in October 2013, Bhansali has now started work on his next production, Bajirao Mastani. He wants to begin shooting in April 2014, but the film’s scale is such that it needs extensive pre-production work," the source said.
The historical drama, based on the life of a Maratha minister and his ladylove Mastani, will be produced by Eros.
