imageISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over were observed the India's Independence Day on Thursday (today) as Black Day to convey the message to the international community that India has usurped the Kashmiris' inalienable right of self-determination.

The day has marked by complete shutdown in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), call for which has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and other pro-liberation leaders, KMS reported.

The occupation authorities have put in place stringent restrictions in Srinagar and other towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations. Amid complete shutdown, a large number of Indian troops and police personnel are patrolling the deserted roads and streets.

The puppet administration has taken tight security measures around Bakhshi Stadium, the main venue of the 15th August celebrations. CCTV cameras are being used for surveillance purposes while sharp shooters have been deployed in strength in all sensitive areas and vital installations in Srinagar.

On the other hand, mobile telephone service across the Kashmir Valley has been suspended to prevent people from sharing information about the latest situation of the occupied territory.
