imageISLAMABAD: The second phase of the elections would start by Monday with the process to scrutinize the nomination papers submitted by the candidates.

The ECP would carry out the scrutiny of nomination papers from April 1 to 7.

For scrutiny, the ECP has asked the Water and Power Development Authority, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited, Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited, the National Telecommunication Cooperation, Ministry of Housing and Works and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to provide details of their defaulters.

The directives had also been forwarded to the administrations of the Punjab House, KPK House, Sindh House and Balochistan House to provide details of those owing amounts.

Moreover, the private utility organizations have also been asked to provide list of defaulters as it would help the ECP for the scrutiny of the nomination papers of the candidates.

Afzal Khan said Sunday that scrutiny process of candidates would be completed within the stipulated time.

He said, special IT cell has been established in the ECP for scrutiny of the candidates.

"There would be no mercy for any candidate during process of the scrutiny" he added.

So far, scrutiny of around 2,547 nomination papers had been completed.

To a question, he said, information of the candidates would be shared with the public.

"Nothing will be concealed from the public and information relating to the candidates would be uploaded on ECP website", he said.
