pipeline-gas-400KARACHI: The supply of gas was fully restored on Monday evening from SSGC's 18 inch dia ruptured main transmission gas pipeline.

An official of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said in a statement here that the pipeline was blown up between Saturday and Sunday night at about 10:25 pm at the 23rd Kilometre downstream to Pat Feeder Canal in Balochistan by some unknown miscreants.

`Working under the special directives of the Managing Director SSGC, to expeditiously complete the repair work, the company deployed all its resources and technical staff on the job immediately', the statement said adding that SSGC's team, working restlessly round the clock, replaced around 26 feet long badly damaged portion of pipeline, in a highly challenging and adverse law and order situation.

When the repair work was being carried out at the site, SSGC's engineers and technical staff came under heavy sporadic gun fire from unknown miscreants.

The SSGC's security Department immediately reinforced the protection efforts through law enforcement agencies and under the cover of these agencies, the repair work was completed.

After completing the welding job and ensuring all necessary technical check-ups, 110 million cubic feet gas was again injected into the system at around 6:30 pm.

It is expected that full gas pressure will be restored at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18.

The damaged gas pipeline was carrying natural gas from Sui Gas field to Karachi.

After the sabotage activity, SSGC's network was immediately deprived off 110 million cubic feet gas, resultantly the gas pressure had dropped in pipelines network.

To maintain uninterrupted gas supply to domestic and commercials sector, SSGC decreased the gas supply to power sector and all the CNG stations in whole Sindh province were shut off for 24 hours started from 9 a.m. on Monday March 18.

The CNG stations would start working at 9 a.m. on Tuesday March 19.
