KARACHI: Pakistan Rupee went up on Wednesday in both interbank and open markets against USD after a downward trend of four days. It also went up against Euro, AED and SR in open market. INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 80 paisas for buying and 70 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 164 and 164.50 respectively. OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR went up by 1.20 rupees for buying and by 70 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 163.50 and 164.50 respectively. Against Euro, PKR strengthened by 50 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 181 and 183 respectively. Against UAE Dirham, PKR went up by 30 paisas for buying and by 20 paisas for selling closing at 44 and 44.40 respectively. Against Saudi Riyal, PKR went up by 20 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43 and 43.40 for buying and selling respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee-greenback parity stayed unchanged amid sluggish trading activity in the local currency market on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback did not witness any change in its demand and supply situation throughout the trading session and ended at its opening trend for buying and selling at Rs 164.00 and Rs 165.50 respectively.

On the other hand, the rupee showed strength as it recovered its day earlier losses versus the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates declined from the Tuesday's closing of Rs 203.00 and Rs 204.80 to Rs 202.00 and Rs 204.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee recovered Re 1 against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs164.50 (buying) and Rs 164.60 (selling) against last rate of Rs165.50 (buying) and Rs 165.60 (selling).

It closed at Rs164.50 (buying) and Rs 164.60 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs 105,700(selling) and Rs 107,500 (buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
