Welcoming the new chairperson Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Nausheen Amjad Javed, the Sales Tax Officers Association (STOAP) Tuesday requested tax authorities to redress the grievances of the officers of sales tax specifically the delayed issue of promotion of officers.
A meeting of the CEC of Sales Tax Officers Association (STOAP) headed by Raza Ashfaq Sheikh, the president of the association, was held on Tuesday through a video link.
The STOAP unanimously welcomed Nausheen Amjad Javed for her well-deserved appointment as chairperson FBR. It was resolved that under her able leadership the FBR would certainly achieve its targets.
It was further resolved that the chairperson would also resolve long outstanding career-related issues of the officers of sales tax, which are pending with a committee comprising member-IR (operations), member (administration), member-IR (policy) and chief-IR (management) constituted vide board's order FNo 19(420)/2018-MIR-III dated May 31, 2019, to formulate recommendations and to address the grievances of the officers of sales tax within two months of its 1st meeting.
Consequently two meetings of the FBR and the STOAP committee were held on July 18, 2019 and August 2, 2019.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deadline fixed by the then chairman for the redressal of the grievances of the officers of sales tax had expired on September 17, 2019.
Despite provision of all desired information/record (verbal and in writing) by the STOAP.
Neither any recommendations, as required from the committee, have been formulated nor have been submitted to the worthy chairman for redressal of long-standing grievances.
Moreover, a Steering Committee for Re-structuring of FBR was constituted vide FBR's order No 12(4)Mics.M(TPA)/2019 dated December 18, 2019, wherein Raza Ashfaq Sheikh, president STOAP, was included as a member to represent all cadres of sales tax, who submitted detailed proposals on behalf of officers of all cadres of sales tax but again nothing has so far been done on these proposals.
