The Supreme Court on Monday sought the report from Sindh government about the action taken viz-a-viz illegal appointments in provincial police department in one month time. At Karachi Registry, a two-member bench of the Supreme Court comprised Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Maqbool Baqir issued the directives in a petition, which was filed by more than 20 police personnel, who were terminated from service for being inducted illegally in Hyderabad region.
A services tribunal rejected the appeal of the terminated police personnel, who challenged it in apex court. Bench inquired about the action taken against, those who were responsible for the illegal appointments in the department when the government's attorney told the court that these personnel were appointed in violation of rules and procedures.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that apparently it seems that the terminated police personnel would have got the appointment by giving a bribe to senior officials. "Everyone inducts whoever he wants to hire in the government department, he said and added that all these appointments are made on political grounds.
The government attorney told the court that under the directives of the Supreme Court, NTS tests were held for all those police personnel, whose appointments were questioned in Hyderabad region. Whoever passed NTS test was retained and others were terminated. SC bench ordered Sindh Government to furnish a report with the bench about the actions which it took against the responsible of illegal appointments.
