The power sector experts have blamed the ministry of water and power for not fixing the transmission system loopholes ahead of rise in mercury, a negligence costing heavily to the government. They said fragile transmission system was responsible for repeated outbreaks, saying that the existing transmission system was unable to hold the load pressure and eventually leading to unparalleled tripping on grid stations during the last 48 hours.
The worst-ever load shedding prevailed all across the city in general and the province in particular, amidst fast-rising mercury in the country. Also, the experts have challenged the government claim regarding reduction in hydel generation to 1500MG, saying that the average power generation through hydel sources was 2500MG while it has also touched 3500MG off and on. Accordingly, they pointed out that the government would not be able to hide behind the low hydel generation claim and the situation would soon be clear by the end of April.
They have also criticised the WAPDA for delaying projects of strategic importance on one or the other pretext. According to them, the WAPDA authority was making tall claims regarding Neelum Jhelum, Diamir Bhasha Dam, Dasu Dam and such other projects, which would be unable to see daylight for another unlimited period.
Some experts have also criticised the outgoing secretary ministry of water and power Younis Dhaga, saying that he had failed to fix the transmission problems. They said the ministry has spent little time on dealing with transmission problem that has led to the ongoing load shedding fiasco.
