ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) has sought positive adjustment of Paisa 82 per unit in FCA for May 2026.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has scheduled a public hearing on June 30, 2026.

The CPPA-G has calculated an increase of Re0.8173 per unit over the reference fuel cost of Rs8.4315/kWh. The adjustment has been requested under the monthly FCA mechanism provided in NEPRA’s tariff determinations in line with Section 31(7) of the NEPRA Act.

Data submitted by CPPA-G shows that total energy generation in May 2026 stood at 12,638 GWh, at an average fuel cost of Re9.0857/kWh. After accounting for adjustments, including transmission losses and prior period corrections, net electricity delivered to DISCOs was recorded at 12,335 GWh, with a cost of Rs9.2488/kWh.

The generation mix indicates hydel remained the largest contributor with over 33 percent share, followed by nuclear (14.25 percent), imported coal (13.54 percent), RLNG (11.81 percent), and local coal (11.66 percent). Electricity generated from furnace oil (RFO), gas, wind, solar, and bagasse contributed smaller shares to the overall mix, though some sources reflected significantly higher per unit costs.

According to the federal government’s policy guidelines on uniform FCA application, the adjustment determined for XWDISCOs will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers.

The final decision on the FCA will be notified after the hearing and subsequently reflected in consumer tariffs.
