President, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Zahid Saeed, has urged the government that all the projects related to water storage and supply should be completed on priority basis. He said that water scarcity in one of the most industrialised city of the country had a negative impact on industrial production. He further said that industrialists and citizens of the Karachi were being held hostage at the hands of "Tanker Mafia" and water board officials and government were not responding to their complains and problems.
He said that KWSB failed to provide water in industrial areas but on other hand this water was available through tankers at higher price. Zahid Saeed said that industry in Pakistan was already facing the problem of high cost of doing business, and now when the civic administration failed to provide the basic need such as water, this cost was on the rise. "If the required amount of water wouldn't be supplied to industry it will directly affect exports and the country 's economy in larger," he added.
