Rs868bn shortfall: July-May provisional collection totals Rs11.227trn
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 11,227 billion by May 2026, facing a significant shortfall against its revised target and needing Rs 2,752 billion in June.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 11,227 billion during July-May (2025-26) against the downward revised target of Rs12,095 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs868 billion.
So far, the FBR has collected Rs966 billion during May 2026 against the monthly target of Rs1150 billion, showing a shortfall of Rs184 billion.

The tax collection target of the FBR was revised downward - from Rs14,307 billion to Rs13,979 billion for 2025-26, reflecting a decrease of Rs328 billion.
Now, the tax machinery is facing an impossible task to collect a huge amount of Rs 2,752 billion in the last month of the current fiscal year, i.e., June 2026.
