KOICA & NTU Faisalabad lay foundation of ‘Pak-Korea Technical Textile Centre’

FAISALABAD: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the National Textile University (NTU) Faisalabad have jointly laid the foundation stone of the Pakistan-Korea Technical Textile Center (PKTC), paving the way for innovation in high-value textiles in Pakistan.

The ceremony was held today at the university’s Department of Textile Engineering, chaired by NTU Rector/Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, with KOICA Country Director Ji Ho Yun as the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rashid Masood said the textile industry is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, contributing over 50% to the country’s total exports. However, growing global competition in conventional fabrics is compelling Pakistan to move toward high-value industrial textiles to maintain competitiveness in the international market.

KOICA Country Director Ji Ho Yun stated that this project is being provided under South Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
