ICE Canadian canola futures finished firm on Friday with soybeans, and registered their fourth straight weekly gain. Nearby March notched weekly rise of 1.9 percent. In last six sessions, has risen five times and ended unchanged once. March canola gained $1.10 at $535.30 a tonne on volume of 7,120 contracts. Backed off from more than three-month high reached on Thursday.
May rose 40 cents at $537.90 on volume of 7,145 contracts. March-May spread traded 3,172 times, settling at a May premium of $2.60. Inter-month spreading also active between old-crop July and new-crop November, trading 1,885 times and settling at a July premium of $23.50.
Chicago March soyabeans added 1-1/2 US cents at US$12.29 per bushel on late buying. March soyaoil eased 0.01 cent to 52.53 US cents per lb. The Canadian dollar was trading at $1.0019 against the US dollar or 99.81 US cents at 1:10 pm CST (1910 GMT), down from Thursday's close at C$0.9956, or US$1.0044.
