  • The decrease in prices would provide further relief to the nationals stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
  • Pakistan has increased its capacity to repatriate from 2, 000 people per week to 6,000.

In order to facilitate passengers, the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has reduced its special flights’ fares by 20 to 30 percent, it was learned on Friday.

The decrease in prices would provide further relief to the nationals stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing a meeting in Islamabad, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari said airfare for the UAE- bound special flights would come into effect from tomorrow (Saturday).

The SAPM added that the government's top priority is to ensure the repatriation of all those people who stranded in UAE and want to come back to Pakistan.

Special Assistant said the government has increased its capacity to repatriate from 2, 000 persons per week to 6,000 persons.

Pakistani authorities are carrying on repatriation flights in Gulf countries to bring back its nationals. The government was also negotiating with Qatar Airways to repatriate Pakistanis from the US as presently the PIA had not been operating any direct flight to New York due to various reasons.

The overseas ministry is also working out a plan for bringing expats' dead bodies to Pakistan from other countries.
