Drive for recovery of taxes: Mushtaq Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Minister for Irrigation Public Health Engineering and Rural Development, Inter Provincial Coordination and Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has asked Excise and Taxation Department Sindh to chalk out a comprehensive plan for recovery of the taxes especially motor vehicle tax and property tax during current fiscal year 2018-19.

This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office on Wednesday, said a statement.

Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahessar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting, Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh told that during last many fiscal years the Excise and Taxation department Sindh had been achieving more than 100 per cent tax targets and for this purpose the officers /officials had been rewarded with cash prizes and appreciation letters as well.

On this occasion, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah suggested to launch atleast four drives for recovery of motor vehicle tax and property tax during current financial year and also launch a massive awareness campaign through electronic and print media so that the people might deposit their due taxes on time to avoid any unpleasant situation.

He also advised the people to deposit their due taxes and expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the officers /officials, however he asked them to improve their performance to facilitate the masses.
