KARACHI: The Prime Minister's National health Programme augurs well and is a boon for the country's poor.
This was stated by the Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Zubair, on Tuesday.
He was talking to a delegation led by the Minister of State for Health Services, regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar.
She briefed the Governor regarding the steps taken in the province under the Prime Minister's National health Programme.
The Minister informed that survey has been completed in four districts namely Sanghar, Shikarpur, Badin and Shaheed Benazirabad. A total of 513,000 people were living below the poverty line in these four districts.
She said that under the Prime Minister's National health Programme, health insurance would be provided at family level.
In the first phase, 151, families would be given health insurance by the end of March this year.
It was pointed out that the names of the four districts were provided by the provincial government.
Governor Sindh said that the government's priority is to make available basic health facilities and new health centres were being established.
He said that provision of health insurance to those living below the poverty line augurs well.
