The court directed the provincial law officer to seek instructions from the competent authority and submit a report on the next date of hearing, December 7.
The court was requested to suspend operation of the notification till the final decision on the petition and issue directions for the start of crushing season after November 30.
However, the court questioned how it could interfere in policy matters, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to give permission for processions and get the SOPs implemented.
