MULTAN: A cotton trading house will be set up here and paper work is in progress to prepare the project, cotton commissioner Khalid Abdullah has said.
The project is expected to be initiated after the completion of a modern and state-of-the-art cotton ginning institute in the city, he said while addressing a ceremony here late on Tuesday night.
It may be mentioned here that land has been spotted near cotton research station on old Shujabad Road to set up the cotton ginning institute.
Khalid Abdullah said growers would be provided space to keep their cotton samples at the cotton trading house which would be equipped with all facilities relating to cotton trade.
He said before buying textile products buyers from international markets wanted to see that which quality of lint was utilized, what pesticides were applied or whether child labour was involved in product preparation. We must adopt the internationally recognized standards if we want to move with the rest of the world, Khalid said.
