LAHORE: The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) will set up a modern handicraft shop at Wahga border to attract foreign tourists and promote cottage industry.
PSIC Regional Director Lahore Ali Raza Tarar told APP on Wednesday that the shop was being constructed on war footing and likely to be inaugurated on Independence Day. Handicrafts, especially manufactured by the cottage industry, will be displayed to woo foreign investors and tourists, he added.
He said that the Iranian government had also invited the PSIC to participate in forthcoming industrial exhibition of Pak products. He said that PSIC MD Farhan Aziz Khawaja was keen in the participation of the PSIC in all important industrial exhibitions throughout the world in order to promote the cottage industry, besides earning foreign exchange.
He said that Pakistan could earn huge foreign exchange by promoting regional handicrafts through organised modern techniques and tools of marketing.
