LAHORE: Pakistan People's Party Punjab president Imtiaz Safdar Waraich has termed the proposal of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif about involvement of the army and judiciary in the procedure of political dialogue of the government as an open violation of the constitution.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Thursday, he said such kind of proposals indicated a failure of democratic institutions in the country, adding that it also expressed mistrust on democracy.

He said inviting the non-democratic forces for consultation by democratic party was shocking for people, adding the masses always had rejected such people who presented such kind of suggestions or demands in the past.

Waraich said the PPP had been following a policy of participating taking on board all parties for political consultation for the last three years while it was fighting against the war on terror with the help of security forces.

He said the present government had good working relationships with all powerful institutions so there was no threat for the PPP-led government from any side.

To a question, he said there were no differences among the PPP, judiciary and the army but, he added the PPP wanted all institutions should play their role within the limits of the constitution.

Criticising the leadership of the PML-N, Waraich alleged the 10-year agreement of Mian Nawaz Sharif had been completed so he was trying to cut short in politics. " Nawaz separated the PPP from the Punjab government first, then he started horse-trading and now inviting the army and judiciary to jump into politics for his own interests," he added.

He alleged Mian Nawaz Sharif wanted to repeat the history of Ziaul Haq period, adding that he could not manage with General Wahid kakar, General Asif Nawaz, General Pervaiz Musharraf, Ghulam Isahaq Khan and even with former president Farooq Leghari.

Waraich said the nature of the PML-N chief did not allow him to cooperate with any body, adding these people were discussing revolution but they were involved in attacking the Supreme Court.

He said the PML-N leadership should revert the proposal about participating the army and judiciary in political practice and it should also terminate politics of horse-trading in the province.

Mentioning the security of the family of late Salman Taseer, former Punjab governor, he said that provision of security to every citizen was the duty of the government so it should fulfil its duty.

To another question, he said the PPP did not want confrontation with any party.
