Williamson in awe of Babar’s cover drive

New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson has showered praises for Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam’s saying it is pleasing to the eye and a delight to watch him bat.

While speaking in a YouTube session by CricBuzz, the Kiwi captain picked Babar’s cover drive and back-foot punch as the shorts he would like to emulate.  “He is a beautiful player to watch, his cover drive and his back-foot punches are just great,” said Williamson.

The 29-year-old went on to add that Azam and other crop of batsmen in international cricket have a great hunger of runs, which make them stand out.

“One thing is common in these great players is their temperament, the hunger for runs and how they achieve is all very different but there are a lot of similarities in their approach to an innings,” he added.

The Lahore born has been a prolific run-scorer for Pakistan, across all formats, in the recent past. The right-hander in the top five of ICC rankings for batsmen in all formats with first, third and fifth position in T20Is, ODIs and Tests respectively.
