Activities at Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 129,827 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,148 tonnes of import cargo and 11,679 tonnes of export cargo including 8,376 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 118,148 tonnes comprised of 68,873 tonnes of containerised cargo; 31,322 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,483 tonnes of chemical; 5,514 tonnes of clinkers and 6,956 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 11,679 tonnes comprised of 11,179 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of bulk cargo and 300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,376 containers comprising of 4,473 containers of import and 3,903 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,506 of 20's and 1,483 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 226 of 20's and 123 of 40's loaded containers while 333 of 20's and 1,549 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Wan Hai-613, YM Jupiter and Han Xin carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. MOL Globe, CSCL Bohai Sea, MT Quetta, SC Ningbo and Lavender Ray carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Bomar Rossi and MOL Globe carrying containers respectively expected to sail on Friday while another ship namely Lavender Ray carrying chemical is expected to sail on Saturday.

There is one vessel viz. Asl Mercury carrying general cargo due to arrive on Friday while four more vessels viz. Thorsky, Dolphin-II, Hyundai Mercury and Aisha Sarwar carrying containers and clinkers respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
