Opposition has no agenda to deal with Covid-19: CM

Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi has to convene the meeting of the All Parties Parliamentary Committee for preventing spread of coronavirus on Friday (April 10).
The representatives of Tehreek-i-Insaaf, N-League, People's Party and other members will participate in the meeting through video link.
The 11 members committee will look into measures for minimizing the impacts of Coronavirus and will also deliberate in detail on steps taken by the government for preventing spread of virus and the impacts created thereof on the daily requirements of the people and economic situation.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that political parties should play their role against Corona pandemic instead of indulging in number game; first priority of the government should be meeting financial requirements of the people.
Moreover, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in a statement said that opposition has no agenda to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
"Frustrated opposition has disappointed the people on the important national issue of coronovirus and 220 million people of Pakistan have fully recognized the double standards of opposition parties," he said, adding: "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the federal and Punjab governments have taken every possible step to safeguard the lives of the people; in fact, opposition parties are afraid of PM Imran Khan's sane approach and decisions having far-reaching impacts and the coronavirus outbreak will be overcome with the support of the people."
Provincial Minister for Literacy Raja Rashid Hafeez called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office here on Wednesday and presented a cheque worth one million rupees for Chief Minister's Fund for Coronavirus Control.
Talking on this occasion, the CM said the spirit of helping the affected people is commendable and the Pakistani nation has always helped its calamity stricken brethren open heartedly in the times of trial. Deserving people will get financial aid from this fund through a transparent process, he assured.
On the other hand, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar in his meetings with provincial Minister for Energy Dr Akhtar Malik, PTI Central Punjab President Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry, and Overseas Commission Punjab Vice Chairman Muhammad Waseem Ramey, said: "Opposition should shun the policy of politicizing the situation rather stands by the government institutions fighting coronavirus pandemic. Together we all have to protect 220 million people from coronavirus pandemic."
The Governor said that under the leadership of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the role of Pakistan Army in the war against coronavirus is highly commendable. He said that under the leadership of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan Armed Forces are supporting the government institutions fighting coronavirus which is highly commendable.
