Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 121,654 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,016 tonnes of import cargo and 26,638 tonnes of export cargo including 7,241 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The Karachi Port handled 121,654 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,016 tonnes of import cargo and 26,638 tonnes of export cargo including 7,241 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 95,016 tonnes comprised of 62,616 tonnes of containerised cargo and 32,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 26,638 tonnes comprised of 9,238 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,200 tonnes of clinkers and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,241 containers comprising of 4,758 containers of import and 2,483 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,212 of 20's and 1,758 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 15 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 120 of 20's and 85 of 40's loaded containers while 265 of 20's and 964 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Cosco Rotterdam, GSL Eleni and VTC Glory carrying containers and mill scale respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Cosco Oceania, GSL Eleni, MOL Grandeur and Sunrise Ray carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Sunrise Ray carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Friday while another ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday.
There is one vessel viz. MT Quetta carrying oil tanker due to arrive on Friday while five more vessels viz. Telemann, Cosco Aden, Hyundai Loyalty, DS Cougar and Jal Laxmi carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
