The Karachi Port handled 193,828 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,966 tonnes of import cargo and 73,862 tonnes of export cargo including 8,723 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 119,966 tonnes comprised of 49,866 tonnes of containerised cargo and 70,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 73,862 tonnes comprised of 61,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,800 tonnes of clinker and 3,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,723 containers comprising of 3,531 containers of import and 5,192 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,187 of 20's and 1,072 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 100 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,427 of 20's and 1,168 of 40's loaded containers while 545 of 20's and 442 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Seamax Ddarien, X-Press Annapurna and Hyundai Splendor carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. Wieland, Sarwar Jahan and IYO carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are five ships namely Wieland, Coral Star and MT Quetta carrying containers and tanker respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are five vessels viz. Cosco Pacific, Express Athens, Ocean Spirit, Chem Bulldog and Southern Dragon carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five more vessels viz. MOL Globe, Cosco Taicang, Smiley Lady, Karina Danica and Songa Opal carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 187,574 tonnes comprising of 168,783 tonnes of import cargo and 18,791 tonnes of export cargo including 5,235 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 168,783 tonnes includes 36,500 tonnes of coal; 11,836 tonnes of mogas; 17,500 tonnes of palm oil; 4,100 tonnes of palm kernel; 16,000 tonnes of soyabean; 2,104 tonnes of project cargo; 69 tonnes of LPG and 80,674 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,791 tonnes includes 18,791 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,235 containers comprising of 4,246 containers import and 989 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely Wembley carrying mogas sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Tiger Jilin and Silver Muna carrying coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as eighteen vessels viz. MOL Globe, BBC Rushmore, Star Monica, Jens Oldendroff, Africal Keto, Malhari, Sprule-2, Gas Husky, BW Tulip, The Odosia, Al-Soor-II, JM Upasan, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory, Mega-1, FCL London and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, vegetable oil, cement, LPG, LNG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. MOL Globe, Star Manica, Jane Oldendroff, BW Tulip, Gas Husky, Al-Soor-II and tiger Glory carrying containers, coal, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CMA CGM Titus and Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
