PM likely to attend as KP U-21 Games set to open on March 6

U-21 Games of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will begin from March 6, 2020 and will continue till March 8, 2020.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is also expected to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the KP U-21 Games.

The decision was taken in a meeting held in the Chief Minister's Secretariat with KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair. Beside, Advisor to CM on Merged Districts, Ajmal Wazir, Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanaullah Abbassi, the Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Relief, Secretary Health, Secretary Sports, DG Sports, DG Rescue 1122and others attended meeting.

The meeting was briefed in detailed regarding arrangements and other facilities for players in U-21 Games. The meeting was also briefed regarding categories of games, schedule of games, venues of games, accommodation plan, transportation plan, opening and closing ceremonies.

The Chief Minister was informed that provincial round of Inter District games will commence from 6th to 10th March 2020.

The games include volleyball, athletics, tug of war, football, kabaddi, badminton, squash and snooker etc where a total of 2,940 players from different districts of the province will participate. It was further informed that in provincial rounds, inter-regional sports competitions will be held from March 6th to 10th and players from all the seven divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will participate.

Men and women players will take part in Inter Regional Games includes baseball, handball, lawn tennis, squash, boxing, basketball, hand ball, taekwondo, judo, wushu, hockey, snooker, cycling and other games.

The meeting was informed that a total of 1,743 players are participating in Inter Regional Games in which 994 are male and 749 are female participants

The meeting was also informed that the second round of U-21 Games includes hockey, table tennis, judo karate, taekwondo, wrestling, volleyball, athletics and other competitions. The 2nd round will commence from 15th to 18th April 2020 where a total of 6,825 players will participate which includes 3,955 male and 2,870 female players.

The open trial of players for the 2nd round will be completed during period from April 2, 2020 to April 10, 2020. It was told that the venues of male games include Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar Sports Complex, Arena Hall, Athletic Ground Peshawar University, JKD University Town, Government College Peshawar, Northern Bypass, Green Hotel Saddar Cantt Peshawar and Nishter Hall Peshawar.
