Number of tax return filers increase by 45pc: FBR

• FBR has received 2,446,294 tax returns for Tax Year 2019, showing an increase of over 750,000 tax returns.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) received 2.44 million tax returns until Feb 28, 2020 for Tax Year 2019, it was learnt.

The tax collecting authority has received 2,446,294 tax returns for Tax Year 2019, showing an increase of over 750,000 tax returns or 45 percent as compared to 1,687,000 tax returns filed in Tax Year 2018.

The FBR informed that the tax collected in the month of February 2020 also increased by 17pc compared to corresponding period in the last year. The number of individuals filing the tax returns in Tax Year 2019 is 2,342,701, whereas 62,403 Associations of Persons and 40,988 Companies filed their Tax Returns.

Federal Board of Revenue says there would be no further extension in the deadline for filing the income tax returns for the tax year 2019.

According to a statement, the FBR would replace the Active Taxpayer list of 2018 with the list of 2019, and those who did not file returns in tax year 2019 would be removed from the list.
