The Karachi Port handled 66,786 tonnes of cargo comprising 44,080 tonnes of import cargo and 22,706 tonnes of export cargo including 2,629 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 44,080 tonnes comprised of 21,790 tonnes of containerised cargo and 22,290 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 22,706 tonnes comprised of 7,254 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,060 tonnes of clinker; 7,392 tonnes of talcum lumps and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,629 containers comprising of 1,746 containers of import and 883 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 382 of 20's and 573 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 109 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 194 of 20's and 123 of 40's loaded containers while 19 of 20's and 212 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Charlotte Schulte and Botany Bay carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Edison and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Edison, Liana and Bao Grand carrying containers, Tanker and clinker respectively expected to sail on Thursday while another ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.

There are four vessels viz. Yefeng-6, Grace, Chemtrans Ocean and Liberty Peace carrying chemical, clinker, mogas and vehicles respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four more vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, MTM Humburg, Delia-1 and Ashico Victoria carrying containers, tankers and clinker respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 140,679 tonnes comprising of 99,069 tonnes of import cargo and 41,610 tonnes of export cargo including 3,021 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 99,069 tonnes includes 39,879 tonnes of coal; 34,683 tonnes of mogas; 2,590 tonnes of palm oil; 2,500 tonnes of palm kernel; 1,500 tonnes of soyabean; 2,128 tonnes of chemical and 15,789 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,610 tonnes includes 41,610 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,021 containers comprising of 831 containers import and 2,190 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There are three ships namely MSC Antonella, Tyana and Falcon carrying containers, soyabean and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Great Fluency and Chpper EOS carrying general cargo and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

There is one ship namely Maersk Kinloss carrying containers expected to sail in the night hours.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, coal, soyabean, chemical, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. BBC Rushmore, Da Cui Yun, Silver Muna, Hercules, Nord Kanman, Gas Amazon, Wembley, Al-Soor-II, Al-Salam-II, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory, Melati-3 and Asia Liberty carrying general cargo, coal, soyabean, vegetable oil, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Thor Sky, Hansa America, Tsingtao Express, Hercules, Gas Amazon and Asia Liberty carrying containers, soyabean, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are three ships namely Thor Sky, Hansa America and Tsingtao Express carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
